Duncree Wood
CVCWT has entered into a partnership with
the Duncree Wood owners, Mr and Mrs Wallace Parker of Old Hall
Farm, Newton Stewart to manage
the 1.6 ha woodland and provide safe public access. In this partnership
we have been supported by local residents, the Ewart Drive Playgroup,
and the Activity & Resource Centre, Newton Stewart.
During
2003/04, 1.6ha of plantation woodland was thinned and a strip of
trees overhanging the houses of Ewart Drive were felled. 435m
of fencing has been put in place to prevent stock access to the
woodland. A 435m easy access path with two gates has been
constructed throughout the woodland. Household rubbish has
been removed as a result of a collaborative exercise between the
Dumfries & Galloway Council and the residents of Ewart Drive.

sycamore, bird cherry, birch and wych elm.
